University of Southern Indiana Logo

Application for the next cohort (July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2022) begins November 1 – November 29, 2021.

A Nurse Practitioner Residency (NPR) Program is a fairly new concept.  The overarching goal of a residency program is to assist the new NP graduate in a smooth transition from academia into practice.  The NPR Program through USI is developed for FNP’s and PMHNP’s.

A Residency is a Full-Time paid position with a 12-month commitment. The residents will be in settings that focus on the areas of rural and underserved populations in southwestern Indiana.

USI is collaborating with community-based health clinics to provide these unique experiences.  The practice partners include: Echo Community Health care (FNP) and Southwestern Behavioral Health care (PMHNP) in Evansville, IN; Southern Indiana Community Health Care (FNP) in Paoli, IN; and Samaritan Center (PMHNP) in Vincennes, IN.

The resident’s focus will be both clinical and academic enhancements that will prepare them as primary care providers. The residency program includes precepted clinical practice, specialty rotations, mentoring sessions and enhance didactic education

Applications open Monday November 1 and will close Monday November 29, 2021 for the next cohort year (July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023). The application and additional information can be located at https://www.usi.edu/ane-npr
