As it nears its 50th anniversary of operations, Southern Indiana Community Health Care will expand to Lawrence County this December. Five former Ascension providers already well known in the region will join Southern Indiana Community Health Care physicians, nurse practitioners, and mental health providers to maintain access to local healthcare. Whole family primary care including pediatrics and prenatal care are planned for offices in Bedford and Mitchell.

The new expansion will be driven by the vision of Southern Indiana Community: “Rooted in our faith-driven values, Southern Indiana Community Health Care serves as a pillar for accessible, comprehensive care of the whole person and a catalyst for sustainable improvement in health outcomes for Southern Indiana through collaboration with all community partners.”

“This is an exciting time for Southern Indiana Community Health Care as we expand our primary care and obstetrics service lines to directly serve patients and families in the Lawrence County region,” said Yolanda Yoder, MD, medical director. “With a focus on continuity of care, current Lawrence County patients will be able to continue their established relationships with trusted providers.”

Joining the Southern Indiana Community group in the new Bedford and Mitchell offices will be:

  • Caroline Browne, MD – Bedford
  • Tricia Spoonmore, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)- Bedford
  • Kristi Nissley, FNP- Mitchell
  • Amanda Bowman, FNP- Bedford
  • Lori Day, FNP- Bedford

Southern Indiana Community Health Care holds a long tradition of positively collaborating with other health care institutions to promote and deliver high-quality care. Southern Indiana Community Health Care physicians deliver babies with the OB team at IU Health Paoli that was named one of three Indiana hospitals as high-performing in maternity care by U.S. News and World Report

“We look forward to forging new partnerships in Lawrence County,” said Dr. Yoder.
