Celebrating 50 Years

Join Us in Celebrating 50 Years!

We have been around for 50 years, but some people still don’t know much about us.
We’re trying to fix that by answering a few questions, like these:

What is SICHC?

We are a healthcare clinic that offers care for the whole family.

Are you a regular clinic?

Yes! You can come to us for anything! We can set you up with a provider for your annual checkups, or you can come to us if you only have the sniffles. We can also help with any ongoing illnesses or issues you might have.

While you could call us a “regular” clinic, we are far from regular. Did you know that you can schedule appointments for you and your child at the same time? And we also have at-school appointments available (just in Paoli and Orleans so far) so that you and your child don’t have to leave work/school. And people in the community are always encouraged to come to us, even if they don’t have insurance.

SICHC is hard to remember.
What’s with all the letters?

We understand! And we are making changes. SICHC stands for Southern Indiana Community Health Care, but we recently changed ALL our signs on our buildings to just “Community Health Care.” Much easier to remember!

In addition to SICHC being hard to say, we also had the challenge of all our locations having different names. Paoli used to be Comprehensive Health Care. West Baden was Valley Health Care. English was Patoka Family Health Care. Marengo was Crawford County Health Care. But now, we are all Community Health Care! We hope you like our new Community Health Care signs.

Who is the owner of SICHC?

Actually, no one is! We are a non-profit. We are a non-profit organization and are governed by an elected board of directors of which a majority are our patients. They are a group of elected volunteers who meet monthly to guide the SICHC administrative team.

Your website says you are a “faith-driven” organization.” What does that mean?

Basically, it means that we value health care that is delivered with compassion and concern for the whole person – spiritual and emotional as well as physical. The Christ-oriented principles we refer to are evident in our concern for the community in general. Prayer is often used at the conclusion of staff meetings.

Where are you located?

We have offices in the following locations: Paoli, West Baden, Mitchell, Bedford, Salem, English, and Marengo. All have different hours, some with early morning, after 5pm, or on Saturday (in Paoli), so we recommend looking online or calling for current building hours.

It seems like you’re in more places than just those towns. Why is that?

In addition to the clinic locations above, we also have an Administration building in Paoli, plus at-school options at the schools in Paoli and Orleans. We also have partnerships with many local organizations such as Team OC, Team Peace, Thrive Orange County, and Safe Haven Recovery Engagement Center, so there are many places you might see us in the area.

What services do you offer?

We have services for the whole family, including pregnancy care, baby care, regular checkups, sports medicine, addiction recovery, and more! We even have a “Navigator” whose job is to help people figure out the crazy health insurance world or enroll for Medicaid. Our goal is to make sure that everyone in our community can get the help they need.

Can I work for Community Health Care?

We’d love to have you on our team! We offer a comprehensive benefits package as well as educational career-advancement opportunities, and we commit to providing a workplace that values the individual goals and work-life balance of our employees. There are also opportunities for student loan forgiveness programs via the National Health Service Corps.

Have you really been around for 50 years?

Yes! We started as a small practice of just a few physicians and nurse practitioners who moved to Paoli to provide medical care to the community. Fifty years later, we have seven locations in four counties! We look forward to celebrating our fifty years during the next few months.
